Chandausi, 17th Nov. Minister of State for Education and Chandausi MLA Gulab Devi personally dismantled a portion of her family’s 40-year-old shop on Subhash Road on Sunday, using a hammer, to support the city’s ongoing encroachment removal drive. The shop was reportedly encroaching on public space.
The drive, underway for the past week, aims to clear illegal structures along drains and roads to improve accessibility and maintain cleanliness. Devi’s public act was intended to send a message about the importance of adherence to rules and prioritizing public interest.
“Encroachment is being cleared to ensure Chandausi remains clean and accessible to all. While dismantling my own shop is challenging, it is essential to follow government rules and serve the public interest,” said Devi.
She emphasized that her shop, which her late father operated, is being cleared as part of the broader effort to ensure the city’s systems function effectively and prevent diseases caused by obstructed drains.
“My loss is no different from what others are experiencing. This effort demonstrates that everyone is equal under the law,” she added.
The gesture has drawn public attention to the administration’s commitment to the drive and has been lauded as a step toward transparency and equity in governance.
