Thane, 18th Nov. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari dismissed Congress’ allegations that the BJP plans to alter the Constitution, calling the claims baseless. Addressing a rally in Thane ahead of the November 20 Maharashtra Assembly elections, Gadkari reminded the audience that it was the Congress that amended the Constitution during the Emergency in 1975.
“No one can alter the Constitution’s salient features. The changes made during the Emergency were reversed by the Janata Party government,” he said.
Gadkari also emphasized development over caste-based politics, urging voters to support candidates focused on progress. “Our vision prioritizes modern infrastructure and better living standards for a rapidly urbanizing India,” said the Minister of Road Transport and Highways.
His remarks come amid Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s allegations that the BJP aims to undermine the Constitution, a central theme in Congress’ election campaign.
Gadkari reiterated the government’s commitment to sustainable and efficient infrastructure, addressing the evolving needs of India’s cities.
