A meeting of BJP-led NDA legislators in Manipur passed a resolution on Monday night, calling for a decisive “mass operation” against Kuki militants held responsible for the killing of six women and children in Jiribam district. The meeting, attended by 27 MLAs, outlined several urgent demands to address the situation.

The resolution called for the following actions within seven days:

  1. Launch mass operations against the Kuki militants involved in the killings.
  2. Declare these militants as an “unlawful organisation.”
  3. Transfer the case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for an in-depth probe.
  4. Reassess the recent revocation of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) dated November 14.

The legislators warned that if these demands are not met within the stipulated period, further actions will be planned in consultation with the public.

The statement, issued by the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, emphasized the state and central governments’ commitment to restoring peace and normalcy. It also condemned recent attacks on properties belonging to ministers and MLAs, stressing that legal actions would follow based on findings from a High Powered Committee.

Seven MLAs were absent due to medical reasons, while 11 provided no explanation for their absence. The meeting reinforced the NDA government’s resolve to maintain law and order and address the ongoing unrest in the state.
