Georgetown, Guyana, 21st Nov. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred the Dominica Award of Honour, the highest national award of the Commonwealth of Dominica, by President Sylvanie Burton. The award was presented in recognition of his statesmanship, assistance to Dominica during the COVID-19 pandemic, and his commitment to strengthening bilateral ties between India and Dominica.
The ceremony, held during the sidelines of the Second India-CARICOM Summit in Georgetown, Guyana, was attended by prominent leaders including Dominica’s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, Guyana’s President Dr. Irfaan Ali, and the Prime Ministers of Barbados, Grenada, Saint Lucia, and Antigua and Barbuda.
Expressing gratitude, Prime Minister Modi dedicated the prestigious honour to the people of India and highlighted the deep historical and cultural connections between India and Dominica. He emphasized his hope for continued growth in bilateral relations in the years to come.
This recognition marks another milestone in India’s diplomatic outreach and its commitment to fostering strong ties with CARICOM nations.
