Georgetown, 21st Nov. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with The Order of Excellence, the highest national award of Guyana, in a ceremony at the State House today.
The prestigious honor was presented by Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, President of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, in recognition of Modi’s “visionary statesmanship, championing the rights of developing countries on the global stage, exceptional service to the global community, and commitment to strengthening India-Guyana relations.”
While accepting the award, Prime Minister Modi dedicated the honor to the people of India, highlighting the deep-rooted historical ties between the two nations. He reaffirmed India’s commitment to further deepening the friendship between India and Guyana.
PM Modi becomes only the fourth foreign leader to receive Guyana’s highest national award.
