New Delhi, 27th Nov. Lok Sabha proceedings were adjourned till 12 noon on Wednesday following disruptions by Opposition members protesting over the Adani controversy, recent violence in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal, and other issues.
As the House convened for the day, Opposition members, including those from Congress and Samajwadi Party, raised slogans and sought to discuss various concerns. Some members entered the Well of the House, while others stood in the aisles, demanding a debate.
Speaker Om Birla urged the members to allow the Question Hour to proceed, assuring them that their issues could be addressed later. Despite his appeal, the uproar persisted, and the session, which lasted only six minutes, was adjourned.
The Opposition’s primary demands included discussions on alleged irregularities involving the Adani Group and the recent violence in Sambhal. Meanwhile, the Adani Group issued a statement clarifying that neither Gautam Adani nor his nephew Sagar Adani has been charged under the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) in an indictment filed in a New York court related to an alleged bribery case.
This marks another instance of disruptions during the Winter Session, with contentious issues dominating the political discourse.
