Imphal, 27th Nov. The Manipur government has extended the suspension of mobile internet services for two more days in nine districts, citing the prevailing law and order situation. The decision, announced on Wednesday, affects Imphal West, Imphal East, Kakching, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, Pherzawl, and Jiribam.

An order issued by the state home department stated, “The state government, after reviewing the prevailing law and order situation, has decided to continue the suspension of mobile internet and mobile data services, including VSATs and VPN, in the territorial jurisdiction of nine districts for another two days, in public interest.”

The suspension of internet services was initially imposed on November 16 following the escalation of violence in the northeastern state. Authorities took the measure to prevent the spread of content that could incite unrest. Since then, the suspension has been extended multiple times.

However, in light of difficulties faced by residents, healthcare institutions, educational facilities, and offices, the government conditionally restored broadband services (ILL and FTTH) on Tuesday.

The situation remains tense, and the government continues to monitor developments closely while urging the public to avoid spreading misinformation or inflammatory content.
