New Delhi/Ranchi, 29th Nov. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday expressed his deep sorrow over the death of Mangal Munda, the great-grandson of revered tribal leader Birsa Munda. Munda passed away on November 28 at a hospital in Ranchi following a road accident.
In a post on X, Prime Minister Modi wrote, “I am deeply saddened by the demise of Mangal Munda Ji, a descendant of Bhagwan Birsa Munda Ji. His demise is an irreparable loss for his family as well as the tribal society of Jharkhand. May God give strength to his family in this hour of grief. Om Shanti!”
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren also extended his condolences, calling Munda’s death a significant loss for the tribal community. In his post on X, Soren wrote, “I am deeply saddened by the news of the demise of Shri Mangal Munda Ji, a descendant of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, who was undergoing treatment at RIMS. May Marang Buru grant peace to the departed soul and give strength to the bereaved family to bear this difficult time of grief.”
Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar expressed his sadness over Munda’s passing, describing it as “extremely sad.” He also offered his condolences to the grieving family and prayed for their strength during this sorrowful time.
Mangal Munda had been receiving treatment at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi after suffering severe head and brain injuries in a road accident on November 25. Dr. Rajiv Ranjan, a medical official at RIMS, confirmed that Munda had undergone an operation on November 26 but tragically succumbed to his injuries on Thursday night, despite being placed on ventilator support. A post-mortem investigation is scheduled to be conducted.
The passing of Mangal Munda has left a deep void in the tribal community and is being mourned by people across Jharkhand.
