New Delhi, 1st December, The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has dismissed the recent alleged attack on former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal as a “drama,” claiming that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief is the “writer, director, and producer” of the incident. The controversy erupted after a man was apprehended by Kejriwal’s security staff for attempting to throw a liquid at him during his padyatra in Delhi’s Greater Kailash area on Saturday.
BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari accused Kejriwal of playing a “fake sympathy card,” asserting that the AAP leader is facing growing public anger due to his governance record. “There is a lot of anger among people against Arvind Kejriwal because he looted people and built a ‘Sheesh Mehal’. People of Delhi know AAP can’t seek votes based on governance, so Kejriwal is playing a fake sympathy card,” Bhandari said.
BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla added that even Congress has raised questions about the timing of such incidents, noting that they often occur around elections. “Whenever there are elections in Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal stages such dramas, where someone attacks him or throws ink on him. AAP should explain this,” Poonawalla remarked.
Ramesh Bidhuri, another BJP leader, went a step further, stating, “There was no attack on Kejriwal; it’s just a drama. After four days, you will know that this was their own person.”
In response, AAP spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar alleged that the Union government was behind the attack, accusing Home Minister Amit Shah of orchestrating it due to Kejriwal’s criticisms of the city’s law and order situation. “Instead of improving law and order, Amit Shah made this attack happen on Kejriwal. BJP should understand that they and Amit Shah have to stop attacks, not Kejriwal,” Kakkar said.
This incident follows a similar claim by AAP in October, when the party alleged that Kejriwal had been attacked during a rally, with accusations pointing to BJP supporters. As Delhi heads toward upcoming assembly elections, AAP has been intensifying its outreach efforts, focusing on voter engagement and grassroots mobilization.
