New Delhi, 7th Dec. Delhi witnessed two shocking incidents of violence on Saturday, sparking outrage over the city’s deteriorating law and order situation.
In Shahdara’s Farsh Bazar area, a 57-year-old businessman, Sunil Jain, was fatally shot by two bike-borne assailants. The incident occurred when Jain, a resident of Krishna Nagar and a utensils trader, was returning home on a scooter after a morning walk at the Yamuna Sports Complex. Police said the attackers fired 7-8 rounds. Eyewitnesses revealed that the shooters initially engaged Jain by claiming his phone had fallen, before asking his name and opening fire. Despite Jain’s pleas, the masked attackers fled after the shooting. Police are investigating, and the culprits remain at large.
In a separate incident in Govindpuri on Friday night, a quarrel over using a common toilet turned deadly. Bikham Singh allegedly stabbed three neighbors with a kitchen knife, killing 30-year-old Sudheer and injuring Prem (22) and Sagar (20). The injured have been hospitalized, and police are probing the case.
Reacting to the violence, AAP chief and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal criticized the BJP-led Centre for its handling of law and order. “Criminals have become fearless under BJP rule,” he said, referencing multiple recent crimes and blaming the Centre for neglecting the city’s security. AAP’s remarks come as political tensions rise ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections.
Both cases have raised alarms over public safety in the national capital, with authorities under pressure to address growing concerns.
