Mumbai, 21st Dec. A security scare outside the residence of Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut in Mumbai’s Bhandup area on Friday morning turned out to be a false alarm. The two men seen loitering near his bungalow, ‘Maitri,’ were found to be employees conducting mobile network testing for a telecom company, police said.
The incident occurred around 9:30 am when two men on a motorcycle were spotted outside the bungalow. Their prolonged presence raised suspicion among onlookers, who immediately informed Sanjay Raut’s younger brother, MLA Sunil Raut.
A team from the Kanjurmarg police station promptly arrived and began an investigation. CCTV footage from the area showed the men lingering for some time before leaving.
By late evening, police confirmed that the men were employees of ‘Cellplan’ and ‘Insta ICT’ conducting a “test drive” for Jio Mobile network services.
A police release stated that the firms verified their employees’ activities, dispelling any concerns of a security threat.
