Mumbai, 18th Feb. YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia is reportedly out of contact with the investigation agencies, according to a joint statement by Mumbai and Guwahati Police. Despite being named in FIRs filed by the Maharashtra Cyber Department, Guwahati Police, and Jaipur Police in connection with the controversial ‘India’s Got Latent’ show, Allahbadia has not responded to any inquiries.
The Maharashtra Cyber Department has summoned Allahbadia to appear before it on February 24. The Cyber Cell is investigating Allahbadia’s alleged offensive remarks that sparked an uproar during the show. Along with Allahbadia, comedian Samay Raina, who co-hosted the show, has also been asked to appear before the Cyber Cell on February 18.
In response to the controversy, the National Commission for Women (NCW) has launched its own investigation and issued summons to Allahbadia, Raina, and others involved. However, several individuals, including Allahbadia, have cited personal safety concerns, prior travel commitments, and other logistical issues for failing to appear before the commission.
Allahbadia has claimed that he has received death threats and requested a rescheduled hearing. The NCW accepted his request and has rescheduled the hearing to March 6. In a statement on his Instagram, Samay Raina apologized for his remarks, emphasizing that his intentions were solely to entertain the audience. He also expressed his commitment to cooperating fully with the investigation.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to ensure that the inquiry is completed in a fair manner.
