Harsil, Uttarakhand: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will visit Uttarakhand on March 6, 2025, as part of his efforts to promote religious and winter tourism in the Himalayan state. His visit will include offering prayers at the winter seat of Maa Ganga in Mukhwa, flagging off a trek and bike rally, and addressing a public gathering in Harsil.
At 9:30 AM, PM Modi will perform pooja and darshan at Mukhwa, a sacred site that serves as the winter abode of Maa Ganga when the Gangotri temple remains closed during the winter months. This visit highlights the government’s focus on reviving traditional pilgrimage sites and strengthening spiritual tourism in Uttarakhand.
Following his prayers, at 10:40 AM, the Prime Minister will flag off a trek and bike rally in Harsil, a scenic hill town known for its untouched beauty and religious significance. He will also address a public function, where he is expected to speak on Uttarakhand’s tourism potential, infrastructure development, and local economic growth.
This visit comes as part of the Uttarakhand government’s new Winter Tourism Programme, which has already drawn thousands of devotees to the winter seats of Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. The initiative aims to boost the local economy by encouraging religious tourism, promoting homestays, and supporting tourism-related businesses.
