Thane, 19th Oct. A case has been registered against choreographer Remo D’Souza, his wife Lizelle, and five others in Maharashtra’s Thane district for allegedly cheating a dance troupe out of ₹11.96 crore, police reported on Saturday.
According to a complaint filed by a 26-year-old dancer, the FIR was lodged at the Mira Road police station on October 16. The accused are charged under sections 420 (cheating) and 465 (forgery) of the Indian Penal Code, among other relevant provisions.
The complaint alleges that between 2018 and July 2024, the dance troupe, which participated in a television show and won, was misled by D’Souza and his associates. They reportedly posed as the troupe’s representatives and claimed the prize money, amounting to ₹11.96 crore.
The other individuals implicated in the case include Omprakash Shankar Chouhan, Rohit Jadhav, Frame Production Company, Vinod Raut (a policeman), and Ramesh Gupta. An investigation into the matter is currently underway.
