Mathura, 21st Oct. An FIR has been lodged against four individuals, including the brother and nephews of BJP MLA Rajesh Chowdhury, for allegedly assaulting staff at a private hospital after being denied entry to an ICU ward. The incident occurred on Sunday, and the complaint was filed by Dr. Lalit Varshney at the Highway police station, police confirmed on Monday.
SHO Anand Kumar Shahi stated that the complaint alleged that Jitendra Singh, Sanjay Chowdhury, Dev Chowdhury, and Jaswant assaulted hospital staff members Pratap and Satyapal when they were stopped from entering the ICU. The police reviewed CCTV footage of the incident, which supported the allegations, leading to the registration of the FIR.
Jaswant, one of the accused, later filed an application claiming that he and his associates were attacked by the hospital staff while they were visiting the MLA’s mother, who was admitted in the ICU. However, the SHO noted that Jaswant’s allegations were deemed false based on the CCTV evidence, and no counter FIR was registered.
The incident has drawn condemnation from Dr. Manoj Gupta, District President of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), who criticized the behavior of the MLA’s relatives. He emphasized that false accusations and unruly conduct are inappropriate for public representatives. The police investigation into the incident is ongoing.
