Former Uttar Pradesh Minister Kiranpal Singh Passes Away at 81

Meerut, 22nd Oct. Professor Kiranpal Singh, a prominent political figure and former cabinet minister in Uttar Pradesh, passed away at the age of 81 in a Meerut hospital on Monday, according to family sources. Singh, who hailed from Dhameda Kirat village in Bulandshahr district, was affiliated with the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) at the time of his death.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences on X, offering prayers for Singh’s soul and extending sympathies to the bereaved family. Singh served as the basic education minister in the Uttar Pradesh government under Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Throughout his political career, Singh represented the Agouta Assembly seat five times, first winning the election in 1980. Following the delimitation in 2009, the Agouta seat was merged with the Bulandshahr Sadar constituency.

Singh’s body was brought to his home, where numerous public representatives and well-wishers paid their respects. The funeral was held in his native village, where he was cremated with state honours.
