India is poised to outpace major G7 economies in terms of growth contribution to the global economy, according to a new report highlighting the country’s expanding economic influence. The report underscores that India’s contribution to global GDP growth is substantially higher than that of traditional economic powerhouses like Japan and Germany.
The data reveals that India’s share in global GDP growth far exceeds Japan’s, which is currently less than 1 percent, and Germany’s, which hovers at just over 1.3 percent. This marks a significant shift in the global economic landscape, where emerging economies like India are playing a progressively dominant role.
Experts attribute India’s robust performance to strong domestic demand, a resilient services sector, and aggressive infrastructure investments, alongside a demographic advantage that supports sustained economic activity. Strategic policy reforms, digital public infrastructure, and a focus on manufacturing and exports have also contributed to India’s global economic rise.
In contrast, advanced G7 economies are facing slower growth, weighed down by aging populations, energy transitions, and post-pandemic fiscal adjustments.
Economists believe that India’s trajectory will continue to accelerate, especially as it deepens trade ties, ramps up capital expenditure, and capitalizes on geopolitical shifts in supply chains.
The report reaffirms India’s status as one of the world’s fastest-growing major economies, and a key driver of global economic momentum in the coming decade.
