Raipur, 15th Dec. Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah conferred the prestigious ‘President’s Colour’ award to the Chhattisgarh Police during a ceremony in Raipur on the first day of his state visit. The recognition, a symbol of excellence for armed forces, marks a significant milestone for the Chhattisgarh Police, which earned this distinction within just 25 years of its establishment.
Addressing the gathering, Amit Shah praised the Chhattisgarh Police for their valor, dedication, and public service. He highlighted their contributions to combating Naxalism, ensuring law and order, and advancing India’s campaign for a drug-free society. “Receiving the ‘President’s Colour’ in its silver jubilee year underscores the trust and honor bestowed upon the force,” Shah remarked.
Progress in Fight Against Naxalism
Shah emphasized the government’s commitment to eliminating Naxalism from Chhattisgarh by March 31, 2026. He noted that security forces neutralized 287 Naxalites, arrested 1,000, and facilitated the surrender of 837 in the past year, including 14 top leaders. The death toll from Naxal-related violence fell below 100 for the first time in four decades, which he attributed to the Modi government’s strict anti-Naxal policies.
“Over the past decade, under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, Naxalism-related casualties have dropped by 73% among security personnel and 70% among civilians,” he added.
Appeal to Naxalites
Amit Shah urged Naxalites to renounce violence and join the mainstream, contributing to Chhattisgarh’s development. He lauded the state’s surrender policy, which ensures rehabilitation for those abandoning violence.
Tribute to Sardar Patel
The Union Home Minister also paid homage to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his death anniversary, recalling his role in unifying the nation. Shah credited PM Modi for fulfilling Patel’s vision by abrogating Article 370, integrating Kashmir with India permanently.
Anti-Drug Achievements
Highlighting the police force’s success in tackling organized crime and narcotics, Shah said 1,100 cases were registered this year, leading to substantial drug seizures and arrests. He noted that the Chhattisgarh Police has excelled in implementing the PITNDPS Act.
Commitment to Development
Shah expressed confidence in the Chhattisgarh Police’s role in building a prosperous state and contributing to the dream of a developed India by 2047. He underscored that the ‘President’s Colour’ is both an honor and a responsibility, urging the force to continue their exemplary service with resilience and dedication.
The event was attended by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, and other dignitaries.
