Prayagraj, 14th Feb. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, along with his wife, took a holy dip at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. Accompanying him were Governor Ramen Deka, Speaker Raman Singh, Deputy CM Arun Sao, and BJP state president Kiran Dev. Several cabinet ministers, MPs, MLAs, and their families also participated in the religious event.
Notably, seven Congress MLAs—Raghvendra Singh, Baleshwar Sahu, Vyas Kashyap, Sandeep Sahu, Vidyawati Sidar, Indra Sahu, and Rajkumar Yadav—also joined the CM at the Kumbh. Upon arrival at Prayagraj Airport, the delegation proceeded to the Sangam site by bus, with BJP leaders singing devotional hymns along the way.
However, several Congress legislators, including Leader of Opposition Charandas Mahant, opted out, citing municipal and panchayat elections. Chhattisgarh PCC Chief Deepak Baij clarified that many Congress leaders had already visited the Kumbh earlier, and others had separate plans.
Before departure, CM Sai shared pictures on social media, expressing his spiritual sentiments and prayers for the state’s prosperity. He also revealed that Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath had invited him to the event. A special pavilion for Chhattisgarh has been set up at the Kumbh, ensuring accommodation and food arrangements for visitors from the state.
Speaker Dr. Raman Singh emphasized that attending the religious and cultural events at the holy confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati would provide a deep experience of Sanatan democratic traditions. While Congress left participation to individual discretion, most of its legislators remained occupied with election duties.
