New Delhi, 16th Nov. The Congress party has taken a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his upcoming foreign tour, accusing him of using the trip for domestic political gains instead of addressing the crisis in Manipur.
Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh slammed the Prime Minister, calling his foreign trips a “periodic foreign jaunt,” and expressed frustration with his refusal to visit the violence-stricken state of Manipur.
Ramesh questioned why Modi continues to avoid Manipur, which has been torn apart by ethnic violence between the Meitei and Kuki communities since May 2023.
The Congress has been consistently critical of the government’s response to the ongoing unrest in Manipur, where over 200 lives have been lost due to the ethnic clashes.
