Two days after the BJP’s resounding victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, the party is yet to announce its Chief Ministerial candidate, keeping speculation alive. Sources indicate that the next Chief Minister will be chosen from among the newly elected MLAs.

A key contender is Parvesh Verma, who defeated AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi seat. The former West Delhi MP and son of ex-Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma is seen as a strong choice.

Other potential candidates include Satish Upadhyay, the former Delhi BJP chief and Malviya Nagar MLA; Vijender GuptaAshish Sood, and Pawan Sharma.

However, the BJP is known for unexpected decisions, and sources suggest that a woman MLA could be considered for the top post. Among the 48 BJP MLAs, four women have been elected: Neelam Pahalwan, Rekha Gupta, Poonam Sharma, and Shikha Roy.

The party may also take caste equations into account, with Scheduled Caste MLAs Raj Kumar Chauhan, Ravikant Ujjain, Ravinder Indraj Singh, and Kailash Gangwal being potential choices.

Following the BJP’s win, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and party chief JP Nadda held discussions on government formation.

Sources suggest that the swearing-in ceremony will take place after PM Modi returns from his US visit, with Chief Ministers of all NDA-ruled states expected to attend the grand event.
