New Delhi- The Delhi government has finalized the Cabinet note for the ‘Mahila Samman Yojana,’ and a crucial Cabinet meeting is scheduled at 11 AM today to discuss its implementation. In the initial phase, the scheme will benefit only women holding Below Poverty Line (BPL) cards, subject to certain conditions.
To qualify for the scheme, beneficiaries must not be receiving benefits from any other government welfare program. Additionally, the eligible age range for applicants has been set between 21 and 60 years.
Mandatory Registration, But No Immediate Fund Transfers
Registration will be compulsory for availing of the scheme’s benefits. However, no financial transfers will be made to beneficiaries’ accounts today. Meanwhile, ministers have started arriving at the Delhi Secretariat for the Cabinet meeting. Manjinder Singh Sirsa has already reached, along with the Chief Secretary of Delhi and officials from the General Administration Department.
Key Eligibility Criteria for Applicants
To apply for the scheme, applicants must fulfill the following conditions:
- Residency Requirement: The applicant must have been a resident of Delhi for at least five years before applying.
- Aadhaar Linkage: A valid Aadhaar number is mandatory.
- Bank Account: The applicant must have a single-operated bank account in Delhi linked to their Aadhaar number.
- Income Proof: If the applicant’s annual income is up to ₹3 lakh, an income certificate must be obtained from the area’s SDM or an authorized revenue officer.
- For Lower Income Bracket: If the annual income is below ₹1 lakh, the applicant must present a National Food Security Card as proof.
Further details regarding the scheme’s implementation and financial assistance are expected to be announced after the Cabinet meeting.
