The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for heavy rainfall across eight districts in Tamil Nadu today. Residents are advised to stay vigilant as the weather system is expected to bring intense showers and localized flooding in low-lying areas.
According to the IMD, the districts likely to experience heavy rainfall include Chennai, Kanchipuram, Tiruvallur, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Tiruvannamalai, Chengalpattu, and Vellore. The rainfall is expected to be accompanied by strong winds, which may lead to disruption in daily activities and traffic.
Authorities have urged people to avoid venturing outdoors unnecessarily and to take precautionary measures to safeguard life and property. Farmers in the affected regions have been advised to secure crops and livestock.
The IMD has also advised local authorities to ensure drainage systems are cleared to prevent waterlogging, and emergency services remain on alert to respond quickly to any incidents. Citizens are urged to monitor weather updates through official channels to stay informed about evolving conditions.
