Ujjain, 7th Dec. The revered Lord Kalbhairav Temple in Ujjain has been replenished with a generous ₹24,97,825 in donations from devotees across the country. After two months, the temple committee opened eight donation boxes, with the counting process conducted under strict surveillance over two days.
On Day 1, five large boxes contributed ₹16,48,970, while Day 2 saw three smaller boxes adding ₹8,48,855, bringing the total to ₹24,97,825. The funds were counted by employees from the Bank of India and promptly deposited into the temple’s account for safekeeping and future use.
Sandhya Markandey, the temple administrator, revealed that the temple maintains eight donation boxes, strategically placed throughout the premises. These boxes are typically opened every two to three months or when full. The donations highlight the immense devotion and faith of the worshippers.
The Kalbhairav Temple holds a significant place in Ujjain, attracting devotees from all over India. It is the second-most visited temple in the city, after the famed Mahakaleshwar Temple. One of the temple’s unique features is the ritual of offering liquor to Lord Kalbhairav, a tradition that continues to draw pilgrims seeking blessings from the deity.
The temple has witnessed a surge in visitors, particularly after the construction of the Mahakal Mahalok corridor, which has enhanced Ujjain’s prominence as a spiritual hub. This influx of visitors reflects the enduring cultural and spiritual significance of the Kalbhairav Temple, where both tradition and devotion come together.
The temple committee ensures that the funds collected are used responsibly for maintenance, welfare initiatives, and to enhance the experience for future visitors, ensuring that Lord Kalbhairav’s temple continues to be a beacon of faith and tradition.
