Bengaluru, 28th Oct. The Karnataka cabinet has approved the state’s new tourism policy, aiming to draw investments of around ₹1,500 crore to boost the sector. The state’s ambitious targets include attracting 20 lakh foreign tourists annually, securing Karnataka a spot among the top five Indian states in this category, and increasing domestic tourism to 48 crore visitors to rank among the top three states.
Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H.K. Patil highlighted the policy’s comprehensive strategy, which promotes diverse tourism themes such as adventure, coastal, cultural, wellness, and wedding destinations. The policy also supports 46 targeted projects, including hotels, serviced apartments, amusement parks, beach shacks, and aquariums.
“The Karnataka Tourism Policy 2024-29 aims to enhance Karnataka’s appeal by offering incentives and grants to encourage both domestic and international tourism,” Patil stated, noting a current footfall of approximately 12–14 lakh foreign visitors and 30–32 crore domestic tourists.
“We are determined to expand these numbers in the next five years, reaching 20 lakh foreign visitors and 48 crore domestic tourists annually,” he added.
