Kurukshetra, 10th Dec. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced plans to construct Geeta Bhavans in urban local bodies across the state within the next three years. The announcement came during his address at the International Geeta Mahotsav in Kurukshetra, Haryana. Dr. Yadav emphasized the teachings of Bhagavad Gita and outlined the state’s initiatives to honor its spiritual and cultural heritage.
- World Record on Geeta Jayanti: On December 11, Madhya Pradesh will attempt a world record for Geeta Path with over 5,000 devotees in Bhopal and Ujjain.
- Inclusion of Gita in Curriculum: Plans to integrate Bhagavad Gita teachings into the state’s education system were highlighted.
- Krishna Pilgrimage Development: The state government is working on developing sites associated with Lord Krishna into pilgrimage destinations under the Shri Krishna Pathey Yojana.
- Participation in Future Mahotsavs: The Chief Minister expressed interest in Madhya Pradesh co-hosting the International Geeta Mahotsav in the future.
Address to Sant Samaj and Invitation for Simhastha 2028
Dr. Yadav invited the religious fraternity to attend the Simhastha Kumbh Mela in 2028 and shared plans for permanent facilities at the Ujjain site. He also assured efforts to ensure a year-round water flow in the Kshipra River through rainwater harvesting projects.
Support for Cow Welfare
The Chief Minister announced a doubling of subsidies for cows in shelters, increasing from ₹20 to ₹40 per cow, and initiatives to promote milk production. This move aims to strengthen the state’s dairy industry, with a target to increase its contribution to national milk production from 9% to 20%.
Visit to Geeta Gyana Sansthan and Cultural Collaboration
During his visit, Dr. Yadav explored the Geeta Gyana Sansthan and its museum. He also toured the Haryana and Odisha pavilions at the Mahotsav, lauding their cultural contributions.
Preserving Sanatan Dharma’s Legacy
Highlighting the global influence of Bhagavad Gita, Dr. Yadav said, “The teachings of Lord Krishna continue to inspire humanity, emphasizing the value of education and selfless action.” He underscored the role of Ujjain’s Sandipani Ashram in showcasing Krishna’s journey and contributions to Indian education and culture.
The International Geeta Mahotsav, organized by the Haryana government, celebrates Gita Jayanti with various religious, cultural, and educational activities. The event saw participation from dignitaries, including Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, Swami Avdheshanand, Swami Ramdev, and Champat Rai of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad.
