Imphal, 20th Nov. Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh expressed deep grief over the killing of six people by suspected Kuki militants in Jiribam district last week, including three women and three children. In a video message shared on X, Singh strongly condemned the brutal killings, calling them a crime against humanity. He vowed that his government would not rest until the perpetrators are brought to justice.
The bodies of the victims were recovered from a river in Jiribam after they went missing on November 11 following a gunfight between militants and security forces. The chief minister emphasized that such acts of violence have no place in a civilized society and assured that the search for the killers is ongoing.
Singh also commended the swift action of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) during an assault by armed militants on displaced persons’ camps in Jiribam. The attack, aimed at spreading fear, was repelled by the CRPF, who neutralized 10 insurgents and prevented further loss of life. The CM expressed gratitude to the CRPF and state forces for their bravery and commitment to protecting innocent lives.
Additionally, Singh thanked central leaders for their unwavering support in restoring peace to the region. He noted that the central government had deployed additional security forces, including 20 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), with 50 more on the way.
The chief minister reiterated his commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all communities in the state, vowing to take all necessary steps to protect the people of Manipur. “Together, we will overcome these dark times and work towards a peaceful future,” he concluded.
