Noida, 24th Jan. Noida International Airport (NIA), located in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, is set to revolutionize regional travel as it opens on April 17, 2025. Positioned just 700 meters from the Yamuna Expressway, NIA will significantly enhance connectivity to prominent tourist destinations like Agra, Mathura, and Vrindavan, making them more accessible and affordable for travelers.
A New Travel Hub
The airport will initially feature one terminal, one runway, 10 aerobridges, and 25 parking stands, handling 65 daily flights, including domestic, international, and cargo operations. Airlines like IndiGo and Akasa Air will connect NIA to key domestic destinations such as Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Lucknow, as well as international hubs like Zurich, Dubai, and Singapore.
Flight bookings for NIA will commence in February 2025, with the airport expected to handle 30 daily flights upon launch, including three international routes.
Boost to Regional Tourism
Agra, home to the iconic Taj Mahal, will now be less than two hours from NIA, compared to over four hours from Delhi’s IGI Airport. A taxi ride from NIA to Agra is estimated at ₹2,000, almost half the fare from IGI Airport. Popular pilgrimage destinations like Mathura and Vrindavan will also be within a two-hour drive, making NIA a strategic travel hub for North India.
Future Expansion
NIA is designed to be developed in phases. While it will open with one terminal and one runway, the airport is projected to feature six runways and cater to over 70 million passengers annually by 2040. This will include a capacity to handle over 1 lakh flights per year, making it one of the largest airports in the country.
Enhanced Connectivity
The airport’s strategic location near the proposed Delhi-Varanasi high-speed rail corridor will further improve accessibility. Its proximity to key attractions and efficient road and rail links are expected to make NIA a preferred gateway for both domestic and international travelers.
With its April 2025 launch, Noida International Airport is poised to become a vital economic and cultural hub, boosting tourism and connectivity in the region while easing travel to some of India’s most treasured destinations.
