Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Odisha BJP headquarters on Friday to strategize on strengthening the party’s presence in the state. During his two-hour visit, Modi interacted with party leaders and workers, focusing on methods to enhance the BJP’s outreach and improve the lives of the people.

In a post on X, Modi shared, “Went to the @BJP4Odisha HQ and interacted with Party leaders and Karyakartas. We discussed how to keep strengthening the Party across the state and ways to keep working towards improving the lives of people.”

The Prime Minister also had a meal with party leaders at the BJP office before heading to the Raj Bhavan to spend the night. Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal clarified that there was no political discussion about the state government, stating, “We interacted as family members do.”

BJP MP Rudra Narayan Pany praised Modi’s approach, stating that the Prime Minister patiently listened to the concerns and suggestions from the party leaders and workers.

The meeting was attended by senior leaders including Chief Minister Mohan Majhi and Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan, Jual Oram, and Ashwini Vaishnaw. Sources revealed that while the BJP formed a government in Odisha, its vote share was still behind the opposition BJD. Modi discussed strategies to increase the BJP’s presence and strengthen its position ahead of future elections.

In the 2019 assembly elections, the BJP secured 40.07% of votes and won 78 seats, while the BJD, with a 40.22% vote share, claimed 51 seats.
