Jashpur, 14th Nov. A shocking incident of disrespect occurred during the Tribal Pride Day event held in Jashpur district, where a Tribal MLA was denied a place on the stage by the district administration. The event, held at the district headquarters, was graced by the presence of Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Vishnu Dev Sai, along with several other dignitaries.
The Jashpur district administration had invited local legislators as special guests for the event. However, in a move that raised questions about protocol and respect, the invited Tribal MLA, Ram Kumar Toppo, was not given a place on the stage. Instead, he was seated in the front row, away from the main proceedings. The situation worsened when no district administration official acknowledged or welcomed the MLA, further adding to the humiliation.
Despite the BJP government being in power in Chhattisgarh, and the state’s chief minister and other senior leaders being present at the event, the negligence shown to the MLA raised concerns about the administration’s attitude towards elected representatives, especially from the Tribal community.
After sitting for nearly an hour and a half without being properly acknowledged, Tribal MLA Ram Kumar Toppo decided to leave the event, feeling disrespected. This incident has sparked criticism of the district administration’s conduct, especially in light of the state government’s commitment to honoring and empowering the Tribal community.
