New Delhi, 26th Oct. Controversial seer Yati Narasinghanand Giri has released a video calling on the Yogi Adityanath government to release him from what he claims is “illegal detention,” asserting that he needs to respond to a public interest litigation (PIL) filed against him. The PIL, lodged by Muslim scholar Mohammad Yusuf, secretary of the Hazrat Khwaja Garib Nawaz Welfare Association in Maharashtra, was submitted just two days prior to Narasinghanand’s video appeal.
In the video, which was shared with the media by Dr. Udita Tyagi, general secretary of the Yati Narasinghanand Saraswati Foundation, Narasinghanand expresses concerns for his safety, alleging that he may be targeted by “trained killers.” He emphasized his desire to clarify his controversial remarks regarding the Prophet Muhammad, stating that he needs access to authentic Islamic texts and literature to collect evidence before he dies.
Earlier this month, Narasinghanand was booked for hate speech following comments made during a program in Ghaziabad on September 29, which sparked widespread protests. The PIL filed by Yusuf and Zakir Husaun Mustafa Shaikh, both Mumbai residents, seeks the removal of Narasinghanand’s alleged hate speech from all social media platforms, further intensifying the ongoing controversy surrounding his statements.
